Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sorry, for some reason I can't find my old thread...

The woman in this thread had a healthy baby last week. She was 36 weeks gestation and over 5 lbs - no special preemie treatment needed.

On Saturday, when they were doing the pre-term car seat challenge, the baby (named Gianna) was found to have occasional deep drops in her heart rate. (They put her in car seat and measured her breathing, heart rate and oxygen levels.)

The baby is now in the NICU.

Please pray for Gianna and her mother. Her mom has been in the hospital since January 4th and it has become a prison of sorts.

Thank you so much.

UPDATE: Feb 16

Mom is home recovering from her C-section; Dad is recovering from the flu. The other kids are healthy, thank God.

Baby Gianna continues in the NICU because she has occasional episodes of where her breathing "dips," due to immaturity; but she is able to bring herself out of these without medical intervention. The doctors want to have her go for three good days without any of these episodes before she comes home. This condition occurs occasionally with preemies.

Please continue to pray that Gianna will soon be reunited with her family and that Ana recover quickly from the surgery.

Oh, Jen...this is unsettling! That poor mama and sweet baby, Gianna! I am sending up prayers that the gift of time smooths these troubling moments out and that sweet Gianna is out of NICU soon. I pray as well for her mom! How draining this must all be! May God grant her fortitude for the day!

Jen, I've been praying. Have they considered an Apnea monitor? My Molly was having the same issues and they also told us she needed at least 48 hours without an episode - somewhere in the back of my head I had info about Apnea monitors - I suggested it to the dr. and we had to undergo a short training session and she was released the next morning on the monitor. She continued to have apneas for a few months!! None requireing medical intervention, but enough to freak me out every time that thing beeped!

Maybe they could look into something like that?
