Please, please pray for these two people:
First, one of our base firefighters, Ted, is in the hospital right now fighting for his life. He's suffered a heart attack.
Second, we have a young sailor, Joshua, who found out TODAY that he leaves for 270 days in Afghanistan TONIGHT. Obviously he had no time to prepare, get a power of attorney, etc. The command is scrambling to help him, but it's a big, big shock to everyone. (He did volunteer to go, by the way, but that was last month and no one told our base folks here that he'd been accepted.)
Thanks so much for your prayers. Both of these men are good people and really need prayer right now.
Thank you,

Oh my. I couldn't imagine getting notice like that!
Talk about SHORT notice! All the legal papers that need to be in order plus the goodbyes. Wow.
I'm praying now for Ted and Joshua!

Happy update:
Ted is under observation at the hospital, but apparently he didn't have a heart attack. They don't know why he's having severe chest pains, so they're keeping him in the hospital for now, but he's not in danger of dying any longer.
My husband says your prayers are amazingly effective. (But, you know that. I'm so privileged to know so many people of faith.)
Thanks!

Our prayers continue, especially for Joshua. Ugh...when Dh was given 24 hr notice for a recent two-week domestic deployment, that was tough enough on all of us.
So happy to hear about Ted.
Love,

New prayer request: My sister in law is in the hospital. She has strep in her blood, and it's gone to a knee injury she sustained this week. Please pray!
Thanks,

Thanks be to God that it wasn't a heart attack! I will continue to pray that tests reveal the cause of Ted's chest pain.
Praying for your SIL.

Praying here Nancy! Mike was hospitalized for chest pains sixteen years ago. They kept him in CCU for four days--no heart attack, not even a heart issue--but it led to a complete physical and a doctor who addressed a lump on my shoulder blade. That was cancer. We joke that Mike's fake heart attack saved my life. You never know what God has in mind.

Update:
Thanks again for all of your prayers. I spoke with my m-i-l a little while ago; she says that my sister-in-law is on morphine for the pain and was so groggy she could hardly talk. We don't know what the prognosis is, so I'm hoping I'll get another update today.
Thanks,

Another update:
Kim is going to be in the hospital for a while, probably weeks. She's developed cellulitis around her knee injury. While the nurse says she's responding well to treatment, there's considerable danger that the condition could spread...in a really bad situation they would consider amputating her leg.
Please pray for Kim's husband, too, who's doing his best to take care of their girls AND contend with his quasi-wacko family members, who keep calling, pestering him to send the girls to them, etc.
And, please pray that dh's efforts to find a way to get Kim's priest over to the hospital for Communion and Anointing of the Sick work out. We're on the opposite end of the country from her, so it's going to take a bit of doing.
Kim says that your prayers are a great comfort to her...thanks so much for keeping her in your thoughts.

Another update:
Kim's doing a bit better. She's been moved to a less critical floor of the hospital and the doctor says the infection has stopped spreading. Still, she has big blisters all up and down her leg.
Other good news: Kim's (normally inconsiderate) employer wants to pay to help out with housework, etc. while she is in the hospital and recuperating at home. What a blessing! We did get Kim's favorite priest to her on Friday for Communion and Anointing. She is in a Catholic hospital, so a staff priest sees her every day.
Thanks for your prayers...as you can see, things are slowly getting better...you are wonderful!!!

Yet another update!
Kim is doing much better!!! Thank you!!!
The infection is still under control. She may get to go home as early as this weekend. My m-i-l is headed up there to pick up all three girls and take them to her house, in the hope that Kim will be able to rest once she gets home instead of having littles jumping on her.
Please keep praying, and please add safe travels for my m-i-l and her neighbor (who is doing the driving) today and tomorrow, and for peace and harmony among all the family members involved.
Your prayers are so, so powerful and consoling. Everyone in my family is grateful for your intercession. Thanks so much!

More updates.
Kim is home from the hospital. She apparently has a swollen abdomen and big open blisters all up and down her left leg. She asked to stay in the hospital, but they sent her home. My m-i-l is taking the girls home this morning, so Kim will have peace at home...co-workers are going to visit her each weekday, I think.
We're still waiting to find out why the contractor on our base died...an autopsy is in progress, and several independent investigations are happening.
Thanks for all the prayers!
