**UPDATE**
My cousin let me know this morning that Brianna appears to have turned the corner. Her hives are getting a bit better and she's gone a full 24 hours without any new hives showing up. She is still bruised from head to toe but that will go away with time as well. She has another appointment to be seen with her pediatrician on Thursday and hopefully will be fully on her way back to normal by then. Thank you all for your prayers, it's nice to know that people all over the world had her in their prayers the last few days. God is truly amazing. Her parents were overwhelmed by the support and prayers that went out for her healing and know how blessed they are to have God in their lives.
Thank you all so very very much.My cousin Misti and I are very close, her mother went into labor with her while holding me. Her daughter just turned 1 year old at the end of December and shortly after got a nasty double ear infection. They put Brianna on the regular course of antibiotics and it seemed fine for a few days. One morning upon Brianna waking up Misti saw that she was covered in hives and bruises. I'm not talking little hives from a bug bite, they were big hives that were so large that they bruised. They cover her cheeks, her legs, her belly button, all over her torso.
Her pediatrician said she had a delayed reaction to the antibiotics and took her off of them and put her on benadryl and a steroid to help with the reaction. She seemed better yesterday but after a restless night today the hives returned. They sought a second opinion today on her condition and were again told it was a severe reaction to the antibiotics and she was put on more aggressive medications to help with the reaction. They were also told that if it were getting any worse she might be diagnosed with Steven Johnson's Syndrome which is a severe skin disorder caused by reactions such as hers and can be very devastating. If she doesn't get better soon she'll have to go to a special women and children's hospital in Orlando FL because my small hometown doesn't have the expertise to treat her.
Please pray that this new course of medications help relieve her discomfort, help the hives recede and help her avoid that terrible diagnosis. Also please keep her parents, my cousin, Misti and Sean in your prayers too, they are exhausted and feel helpless as we all do when we have a child in pain and we can't do much to help them.
