First, my friend was indeed interviewed by CPS due to the false report filed by an out of state family member. The CPS intern found that her daughter was being "abused" because she is asked to do routine chores during the school day. (!) Many of the leaders of our base community believe this is the opening salvo of an anti-homeschooling campaign by CPS. Please ask everyone to pray for my friend, her family, and our county homeschoolers. We certainly don't all need these ridiculous visits and accusations.
Second, I just found out today that a friend's ex-husband killed himself on Friday. She is just devastated. She left him two years ago after enduring many years of abuse (they have two daughters) and now poor Vivian somehow feels responsible for this tragic event. Please ask everyone to pray for Vivian's ex-husband and for her family's peace of mind.
Again, I'm sorry to bother you. I don't have too many folks' e-mail addresses and didn't bring any with me. I appreciate your help.

Hi, everyone,
Thanks for the prayers. Sadly, I have no updates yet. The CPS folks have not closed the case on my friend, which means she's in danger of losing her daughter to (rural WV!) foster care.
Vivian hasn't contacted any of our e-mail loop members since she told us her sad news. Of course, she's busy with the funeral, etc., but we're trying to keep in touch with her to help her out.
I'll keep you posted. I know your prayers will do great things!

Update #2. Things are very, very bad with our CPS issue here. They tried to get our base administration to "force" the family in question to meet with the CPS intern doing the "case study." The family has an HSLDA lawyer (they are Protestant) and has referred all questions to him, so apparently CPS has taken exception to this. They said if the base wouldn't force the meeting to take place, they'd go to the magistrate to remove the homeschooled child from the family tomorrow. Please, please pray!!! This family is not abusive. They just started homeschooling and it's all turned into a huge nightmare.
