Tonight is lacrosse signups and I'm one of the youth coaches (I'm co-coaching with one other person).. it's boys lacrosse but girls play as well (we need to build numbers to be able to split off groups)
and I'm nervous.
I've never coached.. I've rarely played sports myself for that matter.. one stint at vollyball in 5th grade and at recess or pick up games.. like at a family reunion.
I would never have imagined myself as a coach for sports.  This is way out of my comfort zone but it's a small town, there are no better qualified people in town, I have at least been learning the game the last couple years.. and my co-coach has coached soccer so it should work just fine.. it's just that tonight will be the first time for me to officially be in that capacity.  and it rather nerve wracking

The leagues my boys have played the last 4 years have all been volunteer coached and I am so grateful to them for giving of themselves and their time. We've had a mixture of great and not so great coaches -- but they all loved the kids and did their absolute best by the kids.
You're doing a great thing!!! Have fun :)

Thank you ladies.
It went rather well, I didn't get many questions really, mostly I was busy explaining to other moms that the younger kids are restricted from the same level of contact that the older kids have.. since the head coach tends to address things toward the high school level. And that my own kids have been able to play safely against larger kids.. not all teams but some teams.
