Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know this is small in comparison to all the other requests here, but could you say a prayer for my 5yo dd today? She threw up a number of times in the night, and it's Thanksgiving, so she'll have to miss gatherings with two different sides of the family.

She was very much looking forward to seeing her cousins, some of whom we see mainly at holidays lately. She was also just plain into the whole Thanksgiving thing this year - had made table decoration crafts this week of a turkey and pilgrims and Indians and all, and was looking forward to bringing them to the grandparents' house. She's heartbroken and in tears at the news that she has to miss everything today.

Since the rest of us seem fine, only dh and I will take turns staying home with her for the two visits. So will you please say a prayer that no one else gets sick or brings anything to the rest of the relatives? I'm pretty sure that what she has is her version of a virus that we've had going around here for over a week. No one else threw up, but there were stomach problems involved. I had thought we were finished. Ugh!

I'm praying, Irene. How sad for sweet little her.    Sure hope she feels better soon!

Thank you so much for your prayers. The day went better than I would have expected for dd. Thank God for the resiliency of young children!

She slept much of the day and seemed to enjoy the one on one attention from me when the rest of the family was gone. And it helped that dh, who is a softy for suffering daughters promised to take her to a movie - something we rarely do - when she gets better. Happy Thanksgiving all!
