"La Leche League International and the world lost an amazing woman when Betty Wagner Spandikow, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away October 26, 2008. Bettty was co-founder of La Leche League International and co-author of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, which has over 2 million copies in print."

I'm praying for the repose of Betty's soul and for comfort for those who love and will miss her. I will be forever grateful that Betty and the other co-founders chose to join together and help mothers who wanted to breastfeed. Their generosity trickled down to me!

Finding it hard to believe we have lost two founders in a period of only a few months. Praying for the soul of this dedicated mother and breastfeeding advocate.
Also, I would add, please pray for Tom Kerwin, Sr. - husband of LLL Founder Mary Ann Kerwin. His daughter in law is in our local homeschool group and forwarded a prayer request over the weekend. He is hospitalized in very serious condition. It does not look good.

Praying for both. The La Leche League materials not only guided me in establishing healthy mursing realtionships with my children, but their ideas on parenting and family are ones I still hold dear today. May she rest in peace. And prayers for Tom Kerwin, as well.
