Please include in your prayers, my husband John, for his assignment in the Army upon his return from Iraq. He is currently in Iraq due to return home near Thanksgiving. He is a pilot and the Army has invested a lot of time, money, and training for him to do his job. The Army is wanting to "throw" all of his job skills away and send him immediately back to Iraq not with US military where he will be high danger, little to no contact, and not flying ( what he knows) Of course he is very concerned and is wanting branch to allow him to take a command and redeploy next June of a US Army unit...much safer with much more support. They have their eye on him, but we are praying he will not be chosen for this immediate assignment.
If you could please add him to your daily prayers an ask our Lady to interceed for him if it is God's will. I feel so helpless with this as his wife. All I can do is sit and wait for him to tell me what his next email from Branch reads. I am scared to be honest.. I humbly ask for your prayers.
**UPDATE***
John's COL called me and told me that through a series of phone calls to the branch that makes the assignments,John will be returning to the states and transfer to another unit and deploy in the May/June time for a year... BUT this is good news as this is what he hoped for vs being sent away from a US Army unit. He has 4 nights left of flying missions and then he'll be on his way home. Thank you for all of your prayers and please ask Our Lady to continue to protect him on his last few weeks in theater. If all goes well ( flights) he'll be home for Thanksgiving.
**UPDATE #2 (change from first update)***
Well, as the Army goes, there's been another change. John will not be home until after the beginning of December... BUT... He has been assigned to a two year position training reserve units here at our Post (non-deployable)
Thanking God for this job assignment. Thank you for your prayers.

Praying (with empathy)...military life can be overwhelming at times, because there are so many factors you can't control.

Prayers from another military wife. I can't believe they would send him back immediately. That doesn't sound healthy for his mental state never mind what it does to the family.

My friend's husband is headed back in Jan (or there abouts), just got home on Valentine's Day. So at least she had some time with him. I cannot believe they would send him back out immediately!!! Definitely praying for him (and you and your family)!

Emily, I can understand your heart completely, it certainly sounds very scary. It seems a strange move, I'll be praying that the people who make such decisions will not go ahead with this plan and continue using your husband's pilot skills, which sounds much safer.
A big hug Emily I am asking Our Lady to place your John under her mantle always.

Thank you all for the prayers you have offered. John is at peace with whatever happens upon his return. With two LTC's requesting he stay within the apache community to branch, if that doesn't change their mind, then it must be God's will. I am still going to pray that God's will is to keep him with the US Army dong what they have trained him to do. If despite all of the extra letters sent to branch, if John is sent next summer to be embedded away from the US military, then God must have other plans.
Our Lady, pray for us, St Joseph, pray for us.

Emily, I will be praying...
DH just retired in April from the Army (25yrs), and they can make some really wonky moves with their personnel. I'm sorry that it's even a possibility for him to be immediately redeployed...that is just not right--on so many levels...
God willing, the final decision (which I know they will wait until the absolute last minute to inform you of ) will be the best decision all around for you and your family...
Many prayers, and lots of hugs...
Rachel
