We found a tick on our 3 yo today, it must have been on a few hours. Removed it fine - looks like a dog tick. I'm not totally worried, but would appreciate a few prayers that she'll be ok (no diseases transferred etc) and that we don't get any more ticks? This was the first time any of us has gotten a tick from our own backyard. Having a "tick free" backyard always made me so happy - it was one of the reasons I wanted to stay here in this house. Nevermind!
Thanks for the prayers for my small request. Your intentions are all in my prayers.

Praying!!
After moving to the mountains and being surrounded by the woods here's a few things I found out about (dog/wood) ticks:
- They roam around awhile before latching on
- Once they latch on they don't always begin to suck blood so if they're flat that's a good sign
- After removing the tick add a generous amount of alcohol to the area
- Not all tick carry a disease and if they do it's usually the females - I personally can't tell too much of a difference, I've just read that females have silver *spots* behind their head and males have lines
- After baths give children a tick inspection (check head, under arms, behind knees AND private area), especially if they've been in the woods or high grass
HTH!

Praying Amy, our kids have picked up ticks in the past being in the bush, can be stressful.
