Hi Everyone,
Well, Lily is home, but they weren't able to do the cleft surgery. She had a few procedures before the actual cleft palate repair. They put ear tubes in, and did a bronchoscopy to check for scar tissue inside Lily's trachea. They think the bronchoscopy irritated her airway, and then when they were trying to change her trach out for an ET tube (the tube they intubate you with for surgery and put you on the vent), she went into a particularly bad bronchospasm, and her oxygen plummeted to the 50's. Oxygen came back up, they were trying to figure out if they should proceed, when she did it again. They decided to scrap the surgery, for fear if she continued, it could get very scary. So, the surgeon met us in the "consult room" and started with, "well, baby is okay...but we didn't do the repair". My heart about stopped, as he explained how her oxygen levels dropped a total of three times.
Once she was in the recovery room, and subsequently on the floor the admitted her to for observation, Lily did fine, and came home this afternoon. She sounds like someone who had been intubated, she is very raspy and needing aerosol treatments, but is doing okay.
I am running on little sleep, and lots of anxiety...please pray for complete recovery for Lily, my nerves, and that subsequent surgeries, (she faces several) aren't derailed as well....

Oh, I am so terribly sad that this has happened, poor, darling Lily! I'll be praying that through all these trials, all will be well in the end, that she will have all her ops safely and successfully! Carrying your intentions with me in a very special way!

Dear Diana,
We will continue to pray for no more delays for surgery for little Lily, with full recovery and peace and calm for you.
This brings back memories for me of my boy Jonathan who was intubated for nearly 4 months and all the associated problems that came with this procedure.
My heart goes out to you Diana and be assured of my family’s prayers and spiritual offerings for you all.

I am so sorry. I've only been through two surgeries with a little one, and they were so stressful and yet so much less involved than what poor Lily is going through. She and you continue to have my prayers!
