Please pray for us. Baby has a fever of 104, all of us have horrible sore throats and runny noses, and our agent is coming by this morning to finalize everything before she lists our house this afternoon (for $30K less than we had hoped, but that's another awful story). We still have a few things to move into the attic and car, and I need to wash the floors again ... all any of us wants to do is go back to bed!
Please pray that we get better quickly and that the house sells very quickly and for full price -- we have priced to sell, so we are hoping to get what we are asking for. And pray for our attitudes (particularly mine) through all of this.
Also, and this is actually more important (but we've been so consumed with the house selling stuff it's been hard to think of anything else), my husband's brother finally came home after his cancer surgery (they think they got it all, no chemo needed!) and subsequent infection/abscess/blood clots, so praise God for that and please pray for his continued recovery and for his marriage, which has been stressed by all of this.

I will pray -- and let DS know to pray for your family too. What bad timing for this illness, but I hope it's not serious and the worst symptoms subside quickly. Also noting prayer need for your brother-in-law and his family.

Praying for all of these intentions, Philothea! It is so hard to clean up when you're not feeling well and when everyone else is in the same boat. May God give you energy and heal you all quickly!

Your prayers have absolutely carried me through today. Everyone else in my house is still pretty miserable (and I'm just barely hanging on), but God granted me the energy to get everything done ... I am so exhausted now, though, and dreading the coming sleepless night with sick boys and trying to find somewhere to take them tomorrow during showings.
Where do you take sick kids? I'd normally just go for a drive, but gas is $4/gal. and that seems wasteful.

Hmmm...maybe set up a blanket in the shade at a nearby park and just veg for a while with some books, quiet toys, and snacks?
Praying here for your little guys--and to Saint Joseph for a quick house sale.

The park. Open air is good. If it's too hot to play, take cards or a read aloud, some cold drinks and a picnic blanket. Praying for your day!

I'll continue praying for you, Philothea! and all of your intentions.
Selling a house is so stressful with all the cleaning and leaving it "just so" - add children (particularly ones that are feeling icky) to the mix...

When my kids were sick and we were showing the house, I made little nests for each of them in the car with pillows and books and we pulled around the corner and parked. Not close enough so anyone could see us, but close enough so we could go back home the minute they left!
Good luck!

Mackfam, I think your idea is most realistic for my kids. Even sick, they are insatiably energetic and curious and going to the park would result in them leaving germs all over the play equipment, coughing on the other kids, and making me "that mom" who brings her sick kids out to infect everyone else's.
We have an SUV and if I clear out the cargo area, put blankets down, and stick books and snacks in there, I can tell them we are "car camping" for twenty minutes and go back home the second I see the visitors leave.
Sadly, today this has been a non-issue. No one came through. It is a weekday, though. There is always tomorrow, and the open house on Sunday. St. Joseph, please carry our prayers to the Father.

Philothea, we haven't even been leaving the house lately when we've had showings. I just send the kids outside to play to stay out of the looker's ways and it rarely takes more than 10 mins. I had the baby sleeping today and just asked that they not go into her room since she's sick, too. Now, keeping the house clean and their hands off the walls has been real "fun". Good luck!
