Well, this is it. As soon as bikes are loaded on the back of my van, the kids and I are off to North Carolina. We could use some safe-travel prayers -- I'm on my own driving, while my husband and our next-door neighbor finish loading the truck and drive it together. Somebody has to get there to let the gas man in tomorrow morning, so we'll be trying to make it in one fell swoop. I have a carload of kids, plants (couldn't part with my garden that easily -- the car smells like lavender, rosemary, and basil -- a rabbit, a fish . . .
I'm a little nervous about this whole enterprise, especially about my ability to get us there in one piece by myself. And my husband could use driving prayers as well.
I'll be offering up my long day for all your intentions. Thanks so much!

Update: Thanks so much for your prayers! We all made it: four children, rabbit, FISH (I can't believe our fish survived a 12-hour car ride in a cup, but he did), plants, and me. My husband arrived last Friday night late with the moving truck. The whole thing was kind of a comedy of errors, but we are settling in happily and very grateful for our home and our new town, where people have made us feel very welcome. Now all we have to do is hook up with some homeschoolers and find some friends for the children . . .
