I received a very worrisome email from my dear "little" brother, Rich. He described to me in the email some very disturbing medical symptoms similar to heart attack symptoms. It is common for he and I to email each other in the wee hours of the morning to see if the other is up and can talk, and his email was from 3:30 am. I've tried to call several times, and more than likely he's sleeping, but not hearing from him is driving me to distraction. He is my younger brother and I basically raised him as our parents were not very involved in our lives.
He was told in his 20's he had a dwarfed artery and would need surgery before he was 40. All the symptoms he described sounded like a heart attack to me, but I am hoping and praying it is just a virus. He lives alone, no one would miss him at work since he works out of his house. I left a message on his answering machine telling him I would give him a reasonable amount of time to return my call before I send someone over.
I feel just sick with worry. He has not been practicing his Faith. Long story, and the Church doesn't look so hot in it either.

Update:
Rich saw the doctor today, everything points towards an allergic reaction to peanuts! He had tried a new health cereal with nuts in it right before bed. Very scary.
They did check his heart because his symptoms were compatible with a heart attack but the doctor said all was sound cardio-wise. I am so relieved beyond words! The doctor wants him to start consulting cardiologists and begin planning his surgery as it will need to be done within the next few years.
Thank you for your prayers for my dear, dear brother. Please offer up a "Thank you, dear Lord" for this happy ending.

Dearest Guardian Angel of Rich, please wake him up and make him return Maddie's call and then send him to the doctor if need be!

Thank you, ladies. I finally reached him. He was very tired and groggy and said he was up until 5am. He has an appointment this afternoon with his GP as he is also very worried. I tried to get him to go to the ER but he won't...  I told him if he doesn't go to the dr. appointment I'm calling an ambulance, so there. 
He's been told his heart needs attention but he keeps putting it off. I'm praying this will get his attention and he'll finally get the surgery he needs.

Praying, Maddie! Waiting is sooo hard! May Our Blessed Mother hold Rich in her hands.
Edited to add that of course, I'm praying that he's just sleeping too! But also that this episode will prompt him to get a check-up to make sure that he doesn't need surgery yet or anything else.

How scary this must have been for you! I have a younger brother that I am very close to, too. Does your brother have a neighbor that you could get the phone number for, just in case something like this happens again?....someone who could just make a quick visit to make sure everything's ok? Just a thought.
