Hi,
Could I add another thing to the list? Our house in AZ is for sale. We know we will not get what we owe, we know it will be a short sale, we are just really hoping it doesn't end as a foreclosure. We only bought the house in May of last year (and then DH got the job out of state in October.) So, we had no equity, and then where we live in AZ was one of the places that got clobbered recently as far as dropping home prices. Not only will we not make a cent, the gov't counts the difference between what we owe and the short sale amount as "income." This is not going to end well for us in any case, but it can end "not as horrible" if it does sell.
The only way our mortgage company will even consider a short sale is if we stop paying. I just can't do that. It seems so irresponsible. We are trying to do the right things. I am really at my wits end.
Nothing in our neigborhood is selling, except those that are drastically reduced (our neighbor inheirited his house, he didn't want/need it, and so sold it at a drastically reduced price. Ouch.)
Honestly, right now, I don't care if I own a house again for a long time. With renting, if we need to move we can. If our neighbors are horrible, we are not tied down. If he gets on a touring show, we can take it.
Anyway, sorry for the little rant there, but we could really, really use prayers for that house to sell.

Praying Laura! I'm thinking of starting a novena to St. Joseph for everyone's house woes. You will definitely be on it!

Praying for you, Laura. Have you considered renting until the market changes? We had to do that with a home once. It was a pain but there were tax breaks and such to tide us over until we could sell and break even. Oh how I wish this wasn't so hard!
Love,

Ooh! Angie's idea sounds like it might hold hope, Laura! Is renting out your home possible?
Asking St. Joseph to speed a solution your way!

Dear, Dear Laura:
Seems that the whole country is in a buyer's market. But that's bad news for the seller. I've been looking at absolutely beautiful houses that have been on the market *forever*!! They've reduced prices (our house was reduced $69,000 before we bought it!). And they still sit. I would transplant into this one house that's directly across the street from our church in a heartbeat ... if it wasn't directly on a rather main route and if it wasn't practically twice the price as our house.
We've gone the rental route and while there were a few headaches, we gained equity in the house and made money on the deal three years later. It's a worthy thought.
We'll be praying for you!
