Hi,
I don't post as often as I should because I'm so busy and tired, but I read your requests daily and do pray for them ...
We are getting ready to FINALLY list our townhouse for sale. The encouraging thing is that a couple of neighbors have just sold with no trouble in a couple of weeks, and there appears to be a lot of interest in our neighborhood (with good reason, it is a wonderful place to live!).
The scary thing is tomorrow. We hired a home inspector to come and give us the no-holds-barred facts on what we still need to do now that we think we're done, LOL. I am scared there will be something terribly expensive to fix and we'll have little left over to pad our downpayment when we move. My husband's income is not sufficient to justify a large mortgage, so we need every dime we have saved plus the profit from selling our home ...
Also, I am really scared about finding our next house. Those of you in NoVA will understand what I mean when I say there are so many options, but none of them are great. They are either too munch money, or too small, or too far away ... please pray that God will make the perfect home and neighborhood to raise our children in available to us and lead us right to it. This is so important to us. I am wracked with stress. I don't want to regret this ...

Praying for your peace and discernment! I understand, as we are in similar circumstances.

Praying all goes very smoothly, dear. Let us know how the inspection goes if you have a chance.
Love,

Philothea, prayers coming! We're in the same boat although, we've already listed our house a couple of weeks ago but aren't finding ANYTHING in FFX co. worth the move and I'm dreading the thought of having to move to Manassas.
Have fun keeping the house clean! I think the most annoying thing about this whole process are the calls we get to come see the house so we scramble to straighten up, vacuum, and leave the house only to find that no one showed up!
We've looked in Manassas Park, too and I'm shocked to say the least at the property taxes!! CRAZY!
Good luck with everything! It can be stressful and fun, too!

My parents live in Springfield in a very big house. My mother has been trying to convince my dad for quite some time to sell it and buy a smaller place because it is just the two of them.
My dad needs to retire but he really can't unless they downsize. I have no idea how much they would ask or what the market is like but it might be worth a shot. If they know they have people interested before they have put their feet in the water, it just might push them to jump right in. Maybe you ladies could give them a call and talk them into selling.
They live on Sunset Path Ct (zip code 22153) but I can't remember the name of the subdivision. The house is 3 stories with five bedrooms, 2 full baths, a 3/4 bath with a sauna/steam-room, and a 1/2 bath. It has a full finished basement (with the 3/4 bath) that is divided into an office, a sewing area with built-in cabinets/cupboards and a laundry/storage area. There is a deck off the second floor and I think there is a porch off the basement. There is a "back yard" but it is a forest not really a yard.
Let me know if you want me to give them a call or if you're "in the neighborhood" my mother owns Attic Treasures in Occoquan, you could stop by and tell her Krisann said they need to sell the house.
Praying for you!
Blessings,
Krisann

Krisann! Thank you for the lovely thought! Springfield is a very bad commute for my husband so we're looking to avoid that area, but I may just ask you about this later if we're at an impasse!
Thank you all so much for your prayers -- the inspector just left and our house is good to go! HUGE sigh of relief -- my husband has a couple of bolts to tighten on the deck and we have a handyman coming tomorrow to install a faucet and repaint our skylight hole, but other than that, we are done! Just need to get my husband to box up the clutter in his office ... I think I will give him a head start while the boys nap today.
I think I am going to get a summer pass to the county pool and just be there or at the library every day so nothing gets messed up. I'm not so much for keeping the perfect house.

I am so happy the inspection went well!
I completely understand the commute issue. We lived in Dale City and Cris had to commute to an office near Dulles for awhile and before that I lived in Springfield and had to commute to downtown DC (Buzzard Point) when I was in the Army. One of the reasons my dad needs to retire is his 1.5 hour (each way) commute to Patuxent River, MD every day!
Good luck in your search. I am sure God will lead you to the perfect house at just the right time.
Blessings,
Krisann
