I've been having irregular fairly mild contractions off and on all day. my midwife is here hoping that they'll pick up with the end of the day and darkness and cooler temps.. and for myself.. having all the kids in bed and not "intruding" on my concentration constantly
I'm 41.5 weeks now so prayers for labor to pick up and have this really be it would be very welcome.
But just knowing if this is it or not would be the most helpful.
I do tend to go late (3 out of 7 have gone to or past 42 weeks) so it's really not THAT late for me and I feel right now like things could go either way.. and everyone wants me to tell them what I feel and that's enough to make me want to burst into tears.. cause I surely want it to continue.. my firefighter dh is home, my midwife is here.. and I'd just like to get on with this.. but on the other hand I can't really be sure that the contractions are the continuing kind and... well.. I'm conflicted in my feelings about it.. not to mention that I'm the worst at predicting for myself. Feels mostly like Murphy's Law.. anything that I say will be wrong unless I say what I think is wrong to make it right and then it won't.
****Update from Jodie this morning*****

He's just the most beautiful thing .. labor went well but pushing stage was hard.. of course anything except falling out on his own would have been hard after Emmie |

If I were 41.5 weeks along and my firefighter husband was home and the midwife was with me, I'd do everything I could to try to turn it into real labor!
Praying for a safe delivery soon, Jodie!

Praying that it's a *go*, Jodie. Your description of your feelings sounds like you are a woman about to start/already in *real* labor.
Peace,
Nancy

Praying labor prayers for you Jodie. I've been where you are - I'm always late, too. So frustrating. Yes, sooner or later that little one will decide that it's time. Never when Mama's ready.
I can't wait to hear the wonderful news!
Blessings,

Oh Jodie, I feel like I'm on a roller coaster! I saw your prayer request, and got so excited and immediately started firing off labor prayers in your direction...then I scrolled down and saw your update...ugh!
I won't say "surely it won't be long now," 'cause that would frustrate me...I'll just say that I'm speeding prayers your way for a healthy happy delivery - and SOON!!!
Have somebody update us when you can!

Oh thank you ladies.. I really appreciate the prayers..
still a long slow labor... contractions about every 15-20 min. but reasonably strong.. so it's doing something and I expect as we get nearer the end (hours and hours away) that it'll pick up.
Baby and I are doing just fine.. so it's just a matter of patience..
I've had one other real slow labor.. 30+ hours but again the contractions weren't like a shorter labor.. they're spaced out and less intense..
so I figure nothing sooner than late tonight or sometimes tomorrow.. even late tomorrow.. but hopefully not more than that.
