My Grandmother was in her nineties and very frail. Her death is not a huge surprise. But, there is a finality, an end to an era that is hard for those who remain. (me)

She lived in another country and I won't be able to attend the funeral.

Very good timing for us...I really like that thought!

Thank you all so very much for the prayers and expression of consolation. My grandmother went to Mass every day -- when she could. (My other grandmother did as well.) But, this grandmother I remember praying the Rosary. (The other one probably did as well but I was much younger when she died.) Even though I expected this, I guess one is always a granddaughter, no matter how old one becomes. Today, I thought often of St. Anne. Our Lord too, must always be a GrandSon and there is such a special relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. St. Anne's prayers must be powerful with God.

(Thanks to all of you around here who have been encouraging devotion to St. Anne. I think I'm feeling the effects.)
