Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for Annunciation Parish in Decatur, AL - the parishioners and Fr. Culotta and the attackers. At the post communion part of the Mass on Sunday, 4 people rushed forward and toppled the 100 year old altar - damaging it and shocking the congregation. They evidently were shouting something about idol worshipers and false worship. Parishioners subdued the attackers until police arrived. There were a lot of children that witnessed this as well as adults.

Oh, how horrible! May God have mercy on them. I will certainly be praying.

I am so very sorry this happened!

Wow, how sad. The poor priest must be so upset...I am glad that the parishioners were able to do what they could, but the desecration of an altar is just awful.

Prayers!

Oh, how terrible. I feel so badly for everyone, most especially the children. I will pray for everyone involved. So many people don't understand our faith and sadly, so many Catholics don't know enough about it themselves in order to defend it.

This is especially upsetting coupled with the news today that "We Are Church" have called on the Bishop's Synod in Rome to water down our Eucharistic doctrines. Apparantly the fact that the Eucharist is Body Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ and a Sacrifice is an impediment to echumenism. Many many prayers needed. We'll add this poor pastor to ours.
