First my thyroid problems - which are yet to be resolved (I see a specialist this coming Tuesday.) - that threaten to force me to wean Katie early, and now I am having some major dental problems. Dental woes seem to be my cross in life. Anyway, I woke up this morning with a major toothache in one of my front teeth, and my upper lip is swollen. I'm going to try to get an appointment to the dentist this morning. Last time this happened surgery was the solution. Ugh...I just want to be able to nurse the baby.
Would you pray that a solution to this can be found that doesn't require me to wean. And, if it's God's will, that I can treat this simply and keep my front tooth.
Thank you all again. It's a comfort to come to these boards and be able to ask for prayer at 6:30 in the morning before I can beg for prayer anywhere else!
UPDATE: I HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY IN TWO WEEKS TO TRY TO SAVE THE TOOTH. I'VE BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD ONCE BEFORE. I'LL HAVE TO PUMP SOME MILK FOR KATIE WHILE I'M IN SURGERY AND I THINK I'LL HAVE TO "PUMP AND DUMP" AFTER THE SURGERY FOR AWHILE. I'M STILL WAITING TO GET THE FULL LIST OF DRUGS SO I CAN TALK WITH A LOCAL LA LECHE LEAGUE LEADER. RIGHT NOW, I'M JUST PRAYING THE ANTIBIOTICS WILL WORK BECAUSE MY LIP IS STILL QUITE SWOLLEN AND I'M IN A GOOD BIT OF PAIN. WE ARE MISSING THE RETREAT TO THE SHRINE OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT (MOTHER ANGELICA'S) I SET UP FOR MY 7YO DS'S FHC TODAY.
THANK YOU ALL FOR COVERING ME IN PRAYER AGAIN. WHAT A COMFORT. I HAVE MUCH TO OFFER UP FOR ALL OF YOUR INTENTIONS NOW. PRAYING FOR ALL OF YOU.

Jennifer, you have an awful time of it, I'll be praying for you that you won't have to wean, that positive answers are found for your thyroid and that your tooth heals and stays put!

Jennifer -
I'm truly sorry for all your pain and inconvenience with your tooth. As someone who has had tooth issues, I can empathize. Praying the antibiotic helps while you're waiting for the surgery, and that you start to feel better very soon.
Peace,
Nancy

You do NOT need to pump and dump after. As soon as you are are awake and conscious you can nurse the baby. The drugs/anesthetics are like those used for a ceasarean. Mom's can nurse right away after that as soon as they are alert enough to do so. Now you may need help initially with support for the baby since you could still be groggy.

Really Mary??? Oh this gives me so much hope! I am not under a general, but there are some heavy doping drugs - just not sure of the name.
Such relief Mary, thank you!
