Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If you haven't been watching the news or checking the online weather sites, you might want to do that.

Hurricane Rita is now a category 5 hurricane and headed towards Texas and Louisiana. She is expected to make landfall by Friday.

We need to pray!

Saint Rita of Cascia: saint of the impossible, would seem the obvious choice of an intercessor.

Holy patroness of those in need, Saint Rita, so humble, pure and patient, whose pleadings with the Divine Spouse are irresistible, obtain for us from your Crucified Jesus our request (mention it). Be gracious toward us for the greater glory of God and we promise to honor you and sing your praises forever.

Amen.

Thank you for the prayers, Michelle.

The whole situation is becoming dire. They have declared Mandatory Evacuation south of Interstate 10 which is where we lived for 13 yrs (just south of the interstate). We have parishes instead of counties and we are only one parish above the one being evacuated. All schools have been shut down and activities called off.

The weather will be bad. We're on high ground and the house is brick and well-built but we are waiting for one last report this morning that will determine if we leave or not.

We now live north of town, so if the hurricane continues it's course, everyone is coming here. I have a looooooong hallway which I will line mattresses down to get under incase of tornados.

Please pray for us and everyone in the path of Rita. I have an extremely frightened 7 yr old and a panicy grandmother and a post-surgery mother AND NO husband if he gets locked-in at the plant. But I do have my older brother and my oldest ds who will be 18 next week. I am trying not to panic.

Today we will secure the outside and get prepared to take flight if need be. At least I have a full tank of gas but gas is running scarce.

Please pray for us. I might be out of pocket for awhile, due to leaving, having a housefull, loosing electricity, etc. Thank you and God Bless.
Cay

We are praying for everyone in the wake of Katrina and the path of Rita. It feels a bit helpless up here in the north (we are way up in New Hampshire) - we would be happy to open our home even though we seem rediculously far away. Feel free to e-mail me.
We will continue to pray and are invoking St. Rita of Cascia continually.
God Bless,
Wendi

We're praying hard, too. I have several friends in Houston. One has already left for Austin, but two more are planning on staying. We lived there 8 yrs and luckily never experienced anything like Rita. One of my friends still there told me this morning that what is usually a 4 hour drive from Houston to Dallas is now an 18 hour drive. The transit authority has decided to open up all lanes of I-45 to make them all northbound so more people can get on the road and get out. I'm trying hard to not stay in front of the news. I'll keep all those in the affected areas in my prayers.

I have family in Houston, so I'm keeping a close eye and ear on the news and family updates.

Praying for all...

Cay, our love and prayers are with all who are in the path of Rita, especially you and your loved ones. I'm having trouble fighting back the tears today...

Love,

Angie,
I've been thinking about Dave nonstop. How does this affect him?
