Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sorry it is me again with another couple of minor but annoying difficulties. My dd music theory professor lost her midterm. He is a really good professor and we know it won't be held against dd - but it will be better for all if the darn thing turns up - either my dd finds her hard copy (a real feat as order is not our strongest point) or it shows up somewhere in the professor's stuff. We think we remember the grade but then no proof.

Also, my dd managed to get permission to take a Freshman comp advanced course to fulfill both composition requirements at one time based on the part of the SAT that was not being counted that year. Anyways, she got an A+ in the class but the college of arts and sciences is now challenging her on this and saying she should not have taken this particular course (her regular SAT portion of the test that had nothing to do with writing was just a point shy of qualifying for it). We cannot find the e-mail giving her permission to take the course and it would be a total waste of her time to take another freshman composition course - the one that comes before this honors course. Please pray we locate the e-mail proof or that the college will look at her obvious ability to write and accept the course and give her the appropriate credit for it.

Advising has been the pits. Her music advisors are great in making sure she has the correct music courses - but no one in the music department seems to care about those core requirements for graduation. No one else has responded or even been willing to advise her. She finally did get put on a list for a degree audit. She just spent the better part of her morning making sure that she has all the necessary permissions to take summer courses at home (her science and social/behavioral science courses). No one seemed to be willing or able to answer two simple questions. She finally got her answers 6 people later and many, many hours later. So much for practice time, right? Gee, I wonder if I could get the college to pay me for the hours and hours of advising I do.

Praying to one of my favorite saints...and it is depressing to know that some parts of college life haven't changed. I had a similar fight with advisors long ago about that goony freshman comp thing.

The degree check thing is also typical. I had to bring my college catalog (with degree requirements inside) to my final degree audit because my advisor didn't know the requirements for the degree program.

You have my heartfelt prayers.

Well, thank you St. Anthony - she found her hard copy midterm and can take that with her to class tomorrow. I know the professor will be relieved.

Still haven't found the e-mail but suggested a few places for dd to look for the hard copy as it appears we've all deleted it accidently from the computer. She is not hearing back about the course so probably will have to make a trek to corner them in person. It would be a lot easier to state her case with the e-mail. St. Anthony is so good to bother with my little missing items. We seem to call on him daily.

Thank you all for prayers - this is so minor but it seems the minor stuff is always what gets me bent out of shape.
