Some of you may remember our family's grief at the loss of our friend, Mary Anne. Yesterday her husband, Joe, joined her in eternal rest.
The last time I spoke with Joe, it was the way I've been speaking to him for years. He sat in the last row of church with his walker at his side. Before Mass began, our family would go to him, give him a hug, and chat. He always smiled, said he felt great, and then he would shift the conversation to either the children, Mary Anne, or heaven  . I pray with great hope and peace that Mary Anne and Joe are together in heaven, their hope and joy.
It is through knowing faithful Catholics like the Lehmans that I have come closer to understanding the communion of saints. Although our families weren't able to get together often outside of church, I've always felt like we've *known each other* in a way that feels beyond this earth. I pray to be reunited with the Lehman's someday.
Please pray for Joe and all those...and there are many...who love and will miss him dearly. Thank you.
Eternal rest grant unto Joe, oh Lord, and let perpectual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
