please pray for my Thomas. he had hernia surgery not quite a year ago, and the hernia has returned, worse than ever!
He is TERRIFIED of having a repeat surgery, his pain level was high after the last operation. Dh and I are concerned, and repeat surgery would affect his fertility.
Thomas is a daily soccer player. We have been reassured that his activity level is not causing this, but it still makes me wonder.
He is in consult right now with dh. I did not have the heart to go.

well, he will have surgery on Wed March 26th. he is one of the 3% who need a second surgery. This ups his infertility risk from one in 500 to one in 100. Please pray for him, he is quite sad and nervous.

Oh Lisa - praying for him. My oldest son is also one of that 3% with a recurrance who needed a second surgery 18 years ago. It doesn't seem like a small percentage when it's you it effects, huh? That was when he was a toddler though. We never got any info on it possibly causing infertility at that time. I wonder if he has risks or if age or surguery techniques of the time (I googled and found info about the mesh being the problem) are a factor.

Dr said it would depend how "tight" they closed things up??
I'll have to research more. he is the head surgeon of Children's Hospital, I just took his word for it...?

maybe the joy of Easter Week - Easter Baskets, treats, etc., will help keep his mind on better things? We'll be praying for him, Lisa! Hopefully they will do a better job with pain control, too.

UPDATE!!! Thomas just got the all clear from the surgeon today. thank you all for your prayers for his operation and recovery! of course, it would be 44 degrees and raining today! poor guy is SO itching to get out there and play!!!
