I don't think it's directly pregnancy-related but obviously pregnancy is an issue w/any potentially serious health concern. And I just happened to read about someone's doctors recommending surgery at 20 weeks for the thing I'm afraid I might have! I would really appreciate prayers for this because it has worsened fairly suddenly over the past couple days but looking back I can see it's been coming on for a while. I have wondered for years if I had a hernia and now I am wondering if I really do and it has been aggravated somehow. It never feels like chest pain or heartburn which I know is common in pregnancy. Over the past few weeks discomfort after eating that I attributed to things being a little more crowded in there w/pregnancy (I am only 14 weeks) has worsened to a serious discomfort often w/a bit of a burning sensation, and it takes a very small amount of food to make me feel horribly, nauseatedly stuffed. Like, right after having two medium-sized oatmeal cookies and 8 oz. of milk for breakfast yesterday (I know... but the food aversions I've had this pregnancy to almost everything made it seem a reasonable choice) I felt like I had gorged on some oversized, fat-laden fast-food combo meal. An ice pop later on after a couple of hours w/o food was as filling as a peanut butter sandwich and milk might be.
The on-and-off nausea and food aversions I have had don't seem so challenging anymore now that white bread and Jell-O are the only foods I'm not somewhat afraid of! We were iced in today and I'm not sure where I would go with this concern, but I'm not even sure we can wait till Monday if eating is going to cause this much trouble. We're already paying off some big medical bills so I'm really averse to the idea of unnecessary ER visits...
Sorry for rambling on... just worried.

I am sorry you have this. It's hard not knowing if/what is going on with health concerns. I hope it turns out to be nothing.I understand the hesitation about racking up more medical bills. I am praying for you.

Christy

Wow, Theresa. I would definately call your OB about this if nothing else. It does sound as if something is going on. Maybe it is acid reflux or something like that. My husband suffered from debilitating nausea for YEARS and the doc finally put him on nexiuum , and now he is much better. (His stomach would hurt too and he could not eat certain things.) It also could be a hernia with the pain etc. ) My FIL had a blockage due to his hernia, but his pain was very intense, more like what you would have with appendicitis, not just uncomfortable. I hope you get feel better soon!!! In my prayers.....

Gallbladders are often known to be a problem during pregnancy. I had this happen during my second pg, and then it got better after, then again (tho much worse) during my 3rd (after which I had to have it removed.)
I hope you feel better soon! Praying for you!

Thanks for your prayers, ladies. I am doing a lot better, but it seems like that's because my diet is limited to things like vanilla Ensure, vanilla pudding and white bread! (Even Jell-O seemed like it might not have been helpful.) The baby and I could definitely use a little more variety. I finally called my OB today after a very tired few days when the symptoms were improved and I didn't think I'd be able to go to be seen. I hadn't realized he was considered my "primary care provider" for everything during pregnancy, I guess because I've been blessed not to have problems even this serious before during pregnancy. He should call back later today.
I can't diagnose myself so all I know is eating small amounts at a time of very bland foods is keeping the symptoms mostly under control, but it sounds very much like a "gastric ulcer" except those are supposed to be less likely to cause problems during pregnancy, but not impossible to have.
