Thank you all for your prayers. He's back safely, having had what he thinks was a very positive time at this college. They have had at least one other candidate on campus for an interview, and plan to make a decision by the end of next week.
We are trying to be very at peace about it all (she says, in the midst of a killer muscle-spasm headache!), but this place is very much the kind of place where he would love to teach; he already knows and is on good terms with a number of faculty members and administrators, he had a wonderful time teaching a class on Friday, it's in an area where we'd love to live . . .
Anyway, I think we're in for a long pins-and-needles week, so would appreciate prayers for our peace of mind and acceptance of God's will for us, more than anything else. It's been a long five years, actually, of part-time teaching and job-hunting, and my husband has said that if this one doesn't work out, he will look seriously for a job outside academia, which is a bit heartbreaking, as he's invested so much in his undergraduate teaching and loves it. But -- although we've been blessed with some extra resources which are helping us make ends meet more comfortably right now, he's right in thinking that we can't go through another year without his having some kind of steady employment with benefits.
So all that to say: it went well, we think; he really really wants the job; we hope they mutually really really want him, but most of all, we want to trust God in all things.
