My family is in need of more prayers. My mom called this morning to tell me that my father is in the hospital with pneumonia (same hospital as my brother). He had a 104 fever last night and was disoriented, walking into walls and such. He is 71, but very strong and healthy. So, I am trying not to worry. But whenever someone his age goes into the hospital it is a little scary.

My poor mother, of course, is very stressed. She had surgery on her ankle back in September and still can't drive. Fortunately, another brother and his family are living with my parents right now while their house is being renovated. So, my sil is there during the day to help out.

I am an hour away, so I can't be of much help. Especially not with a colicky newborn and a fussy toddler with a cold.

One other thing, my brother who lives with my parents, Tim, is in remission from Melanoma. He has a bad cold right now as well and because of his compromised immune system, we worry about him getting worse.

On an up-note: my brother Stephen seems to be doing well, he is sitting up in bed and comfortable. He is still in the ICU.

UPDATE: My dad came home from the hospital last night. I spoke with him this morning and he is still very weak and discouraged. The doctor is not happy with his breathing capacity, so they will monitor him closely. He will continue breathing treatments at home.

My dad retired from his career job ten years ago, but still works as a salesman (of gourmet desserts!) and spends his days traveling the DC beltway making calls to restaurants. He is not someone who slows down well. Please pray that he will be a good patient and give himself time to recuperate. His name is Patrick.
