a friend of the family has passed away, a 50-year-old parish priest, of cancer. He was so humble and pius, it almost seems like i should be praying TO him, instead of for him. :) Anyway, he suffered greatly this past month, and at least his sufferings are over. This priest prayed for me daily by name during my pregnancies. May God reward him.
As an aside, during his first chemo treatment, the hospital staff noticed that his central line had become staph infected, and shortly thereafter he quit breathing on his own. You hear about this a lot. Does anyone know much about it? Is it the hospital's "fault"?

Praying for him.
As for the staph infection, much of it is spread in hospitals (my dh got one 2 years ago and it took 9+ months to finally clear and heal), but I don't know if you can really pinpoint to it as being the hospital's "fault", unless you can prove negligence, use of unsterilized surgical tools, drs. and nurses not following protocol, etc.

Remembering this priest's soul in prayer.
I think that hospitals are becoming more dangerous places for super bugs etc. and how much can be completely contained, it's hard to know, certainly it is drilled into patients and healthcare workers how to properly wash arms when entering ICU wards etc but when you think that germs could be lurking on badges etc, you know it is obviously a hard battle to have all bases covered, which is frightening. I think overuse of antibiotics in our society has not helped the situation - look at this interesting article over here, earlier this week:
Contaminated hospital items

Praying! I trust now he can pray for you from a better place.
I have read from a few sources that they are now advising that one brings all their own bedding to the hospital, that something like 90% of all baby blankets, for example had the staph infection on it?
