Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dh's Great Uncle who was a Jesuit priest passed away yesterday. Please pray for the repose of his soul. My husband will be going to the funeral (on Wednesday) in Massachusetts. If I could ask for prayers for safe travel and a sane mind for me (second week in a row he's gone).

Next, dh's great-aunt is going in for surgery to repair a heart valve. We could really use prayers for an uneventful surgery and for no complications.

Thank you all.

Dh never made it for the funeral. He was cancelled on his flights 5 times in two days. It was heartbreaking for him as well as his family. With all the bad weather, we certainly didn't think he'd be the one missing the funeral (I mean we live in Texas, for Pete's sake!).

My SIL gave us a summary of the beautiful mass that was held for Uncle Richard. There were 30 priests in attendance along with the retired auxiliary bishop of Boston. Three priests celebrated the mass with the other 27 saying certain prayers along with the 3. The bishop blessed the casket with the incense (he and Uncle Richard had taught together for 15 years at one of the Catholic schools in Boston). After the mass ended, the 30 priests left first and stood on the steps singing hymns in Latin while the mourners left the church. Just hearing about it gave me the chills. What a beautiful way to send him home.

Thank you all for your prayers.

It does sound very beautiful. Eternal peace grant unto him O, Lord.
