Well, we just got back from the doctor, via tow truck (different prayers, much less urgent). He says my daughter, who's 7, may have ventricular septal defect (hole in her heart). Amazingly, no one has ever suggested this to us before. So, we have to go to Charlottesville, VA (2 hours away) to find out. Then...??? Do nothing, surgery, I have no idea.
Please pray; this has been an upsetting week around here already, and now I have to drop this bomb on my dear husband when he comes home. Thanks.

Nancy,
Do you know what doctor your daughter will be seeing? Are you going to UVA or Martha Jefferson? UVA, I'm assuming. My son sees Dr. William Hammill, who is utterly marvelous. They're all good, though. Dr Scott what's his last name, Lim? Linn? Anyway, the main cath lab guy, he's fantastic too. Your daughter will be in excellent hands.

Dear Nancy,
You will have the prayers of our family here. We pray daily (twice!) to Saint John of God.......and will include your fmaily as well. He is the patron saint of heart patients.......(yeah, yeah.......those of you who have known me forever have heard this a million times :)).
Our Sarah Beth, 12yrs, will pray especially.........as she was born with a VSD as well........which ended up saving her life because of other heart defects!
Keep us updated! The treatments nowadays are pretty incredible!
Blessings, from a mom of a VSD kid doing absolutely wonderful!
oh.....as long as I am here :)...on this topic.....Sarah sees her cardiologist next week....first time in a year (since her dad misplaced our last appt card :) before he gave it to us)....and she is only about 4 yrs from needing her next surgery, give or take a couple of years....thanks!

Will also be praying for your daughter here, Nancy ... and for Sarah, Chari. Our neighbours have two children born with massive heart defects. Neither were expected to survive infancy ... they are now 13 and 10 and healthy . As Chari says, treatment these days is wonderful.

Our appointment is Thursday afternoon. We're hoping that they find that the heart murmur is either caused by a VSD that is closing, or that it's just a harmless murmur. Thanks for your continued prayers!

She is still in our prayers!
I have a benign murmur myself....so she will be in good company mine gets really loud during pregnancy.......makes medical people nervous.......till I reassure them :)
