First there was this business problem. Now it appears my son will be going to the local Catholic school in the fall. A friend had brain surgery. She is recovering well, praise the Lord. But my husband's partner's son is starting chemo today.
I am really tired and emotionally spent, and the whirl of Advent and Christmas is coming. I struggle with others' expectations of me during this season when I'm not already spent at the beginning of it. I feel like this is turning into a big whine, so I'll end by simply asking for your prayers.

I have only one expectation of you.  Go set-up your nativity (I don't mean the big yard one ---just a small table top set) and simply sit there looking at the faces of the Christ child and his mother. I hope and pray Christ will speak to you and offer you hope and peace and mercy and grace and joy during this quiet time.

Well here's a bit of good news!
Our bishop is going to be celebrating Mass at our parish on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and my son has been asked to be one of the five servers at that Mass.
My boy is so excited to be serving, and particularly serving on our parish's patronal feast.
