Please keep my oldest son Timothy in your prayers. He left for St. Charles Borromeo seminary in Phila. last week and then this past Sat. he broke his wrist playing basketball. It was a pretty bad break (both the ulna and radius) and he's been in a good bit of pain. It was his left wrist so he's still able to write but he's finding it difficult to do quite a lot (dress, shower etc.)
He called me this afternoon from the hospital where the doctor had just told him that he needed surgery right away (Sat. they didn't think surgery would be necessary but as of today things look worse) however, the insurance company won't OK it for at least 72 hours and then maybe not at all because the surgeon isn't a participating dr. with our insurance. Our pcp is working hard to get it all worked out and I am grateful for their help but I must admit I have been feeling rather anxious since he called me. I could tell he was having a hard time (although he kept saying he was fine and not to worry) and it was all I could do not to get in my car and drive down there--not that I could do anything to make a difference. Even as I write this I feel like crying (I'm not weepy mind you, just somewhat teary). I know God has it all worked out and that he is being protected but I'd sure appreciate if you could remember him in your prayers over the next few weeks.
Thanks and God bless,

Michele:
I will pray for your son. How wonderful to have raised a child with a religious vocation you must be an outstanding mother.
I daily pray for such a vocation among my own dear children.

Wow, your Timothy must have the makings for one incredible priest to be attacked with such suffering so early on at the seminary. May Our Lady place her mantle around him.
Praying with you...

Praying! I know just how you feel, with impending surgery and insurance problems combined. May you and your family find peace, and may Timothy heal quickly!
Hugs,

Timothy is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 11AM (EST). We still don't know if the insurance company is going to OK it but the diocese told him to just go ahead and have it anyway. He sounded quite good when I talked to him tonight and told me that they are sending him home to us Thursday morning so he can spend the weekend recuperating. I was SO happy to hear that! They are even going to have someone drive him home so I don't have to drive back there in the crazy traffic. He'll probably have to be back by Sunday evening but at least we will have a few days to take care of him!
Please pray for his surgery tomorrow and recovery afterward.
Thanks so much!

Praise God, that he'll be able to spend recovery time with the family. We'll be praying for the operation tomorrow.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your prayers. Timothy's surgery went ahead as scheduled and they placed 4 pins in his wrist to keep the bones in place. He was able to be home over the weekend but we had to take him back yesterday and I found it difficult to leave him feeling so poorly.
I just talked to him a little while ago and he told me he had a rough night last night and spent all of today resting in the infirmary. He gets the pins out on Thursday and should quickly start feeling better from there.
A cute little story I must tell you; When Timothy was home his little sisters Mary and Maggie (ages 9 and 5) thought it their job to take care of him and at one point Timothy leant over and kissed Maggie on the cheek to which she promptly said "Um, Timothy you aren't really supposed to kiss people when you're sick, I don't want to break my wrist."
I'm still smiling at that one!
God bless,

Michele,
Thanks for the update! I bet the girls really really miss their brother. My eldest brother gets in from LA tonight. We haven't seen him in almost 28 months. I can't wait to hug him and have him see my new house!
Sorry---this post was about your guy but I just got excited to think my brother will be here.
Praying Timothy is 100% in no time and that all wrists stay strong and healthy in the Q house!
Marybeth
