Please pray for my relatives and all the people on the Yucatan Peninsula tonight. I have many aunts, uncles and cousins in Merida, Cancun and Chetumal. Hurricane Dean is about to make landfall and is a category 5 hurricane. Thank you!

Thank you all for your prayers! Please continue, we haven't been able to contact any of our relatives. Those in Merida should be fine, even in Cancun they should be o.k., all of the hotels and condos on the water protect the city of Cancun. I have a cousin who just moved his family to Playa Del Carmen a few days ago, I am concerned for them. It's not as built up as Cancun and therefore there aren't as many big buildings on the coast so the city is more vulnerable. I have relatives in Chetumal which is closer to where the storm came ashore. Please pray for the people in the village of Mahahual. It is a small fishing village where the storm came ashore. There are so many small villages between all of these better known places where people still in mud floored, thatched roofed houses. Most without the means to leave those houses.

Good news!!!!! Everyone in Chetumal is safe! My aunt, in Chetumal, has talked to everyone there (all her kids, grand kids etc.) and everyone is safe. She said most of the trees are down and there is no electricity, the phone lines are o.k. for right now. They haven't been out and about to check on property damage but all of them are safe. She said it was a scary night and it was horrible. Praise God they are safe, but I'm sure there are many who didn't fare so well.

I'm so happy to hear that everyone is OK! I have a LOT of relatives in the Guadalajara area which shouldn't be badly affected by the hurricane, but it does make me concerned to think of those who were/are in its path...
