Hi,
I am scheduled for a spinal tap Monday morning. I have already had some other tests and it seems what we're trying to figure out is whether I have multiple sclerosis. Would you please pray for me? I am concerned about complications.

Thanks everyone... I am not even sure if the test is going to happen on Monday after all. It would just be a really bad time for the possible complications. If I have MS I really doubt I'd be going on medication for it right now so it doesn't seem vital to be diagnosed, plus I'm not sure whether the spinal tap would be strictly necessary for a diagnosis depending on the MRI results I am awaiting, nor am I sure whether I could get diagnosed with info from the spinal tap if the MRIs didn't provide additional info. I have the results from one MRI but have been waiting for the results from two more. Maybe I'll have the test Monday, maybe I won't.

Praying for wisdom for you. I just went through a big round of tests, partly to see if I had MS. They checked the MRIs first, though, and saw that I didn't have spots on the brain scans. I had nerve conduction tests and a whole bunch of other stuff, but they never suggested a spinal tap. Praying that it goes smoothly and without complication if you do have it, and praying for wisdom for the doctors -- that they will know how best to treat you.

There were some spots on the brain MRI, including one the doctor called "more suspicious" for MS, so he ordered spinal cord MRIs. I had the visual evoked potentials test and it was normal, though it was pallor of the optic nerve which led the ophthalmologist to send me to a neurologist when she had been thinking an ENT was the next stop for my complaints of intermittent double vision and vertigo (which lasted about 2 weeks and seemed completely resolved soon after I went to see her and after my first neurologist visit.) I have also had some strange numbness at times including about a month of constant and extensive numbness over a year ago. But only one reflex was abnormal (overactive) on the neurologist's office exam, and he said I could have been born with that. If it is MS, from what I have read, it seems unlikely that my condition will deteriorate rapidly.

Thanks for the prayers, Theresa! I have had prolonged numbness at times too, but it is at least in part because of degenerated discs in my neck. The doctors ran a ton of (expensive) tests. The nerve conduction study came back mildly abnormal, but I decided to put off further tests and just see what happens. (I am going through physical therapy for my neck.) The next step would be a nerve biopsy, which makes me nervous! So we'll wait and see. (Sorry for rambling on!)
Praying that you and the doctors will determine the best course for you, especially since you have the adrenal gland issue complicating things. Praying that, if you have the spinal tap, that it is done at the right time and will go smoothly and without complications. I hope that they discover all that is wrong, and that you have peace during the waiting.
