Yesterday, dh sent in the acceptance letter. The new company is completing the work permits. We have applied for our passports. Dh is taking early retirement from his current company (who has not been informed as of yet). So it is really official. We are moving to Wales.
Some of our friends think we are crazy. We see this as an opportunity given to us by God. Hopefully it will all turn out to be God's plan. But I ask you ladies to pray for us occassionally. The houses are small and expensive. We live in a hugh house ... many books, furniture, appliances to sell (or give away) between now and Oct/Nov the target move date. I have lived in this house for over 10 years, the longest I have ever lived anywhere. Pray that I can accomplish all that I need to before our move.
And dh was a bit remiss last evening. It is a change for us and especially for our children. So please pray for them as well. They are excited, but it is an unknown.
Although dh does not know this, it has always been my dream to live in England. I am overjoyed, but a bit apprehensive as well. I need to be able to make this work for the whole family. And I need to be patient in waiting for the day.
So sorry to ramble on ... you ladies that know me know how long winded I can be. Thanks for listening.

Wow! -- I'm praying here
From someone who has lived within a 5 mile radius (3 houses) my entire life (and has a bit of wanderlust that looks to never be fulfilled :-)

Carole, you know I'm on board with your whole plan, and I hope you know you and your family are in my prayers. I don't have all the answers, but I do have a lot of enthusiasm for your impending move. And...I might turn up...you never know...
You will love life in the UK. Possessions aren't everything, as you know, and you'll adjust to a smaller living space. In the end, the departure date will arrive and you'll get done all that God has planned for you to do...(I have jumped on planes several times. We never get it all done, but it always works out fine.)
The most important thing is to do this as a family. Be honest about your feelings with your husband and children, and encourage them to share their concerns. We began our homeschooling journey as we moved overseas five years ago, and it's been the best decision we could have made for our family. You, too, will be enriched by experiencing your faith in its universal aspects, in other countries. You'll be able to study history where it actually happened. Your children will gain a multinational perspective. You'll never be the same. It will be hard. You'll totally hate it about six weeks into the whole thing, but it will get better, you will adapt, and you will thrive.
My dear homeschooling sister, you will be in my prayers as you go through the tearful and joyful process of moving overseas. Please know I am here for you...to listen to your concerns, to hold your intentions in my heart...to rejoice for you.
Many hugs from me!
