Please pray for my friend Michelle; yesterday she was hospitalized with 3 blood clots in her lungs. She has 8 daughters; Maggie is not yet two months old, and the oldest is in 9th grade. Michelle's husband, John, is in the hospital with Michelle and Maggie...but the other girls are an hour away from their mom, as we all live in a very rural community in the WV mountains.
Please pray for Michelle's quick recovery and for lots of assistance for the family while they wait for the blood thinners to do their job.
Thanks!

Stef,
Well, she had a clot in her leg a couple of years ago (while pregnant, which presented tons of problems), but they didn't think it was going to be a recurring problem at that time. Apparently that wasn't the case, and now she's got this serious health issue to deal with. The hospital doctor says that the clots aren't big enough for the "clot zapper" and they should go away with enough treatment...
Thanks for the prayers, everyone!

Prayers for your friend and her family. Especially for recovery and for her to be able to go home quickly. It's hard to be away...on everyone.
God bless,
Angela

Update...I went to see her at the hospital (and took a really neat spiritual bouquet card I made from an Illuminated Ink kit!); things are not going as well as they could. She is still in a lot of pain and the doctor on the floor last night kept lecturing her about not pumping/discarding breast milk, in favor of worrying about pain control...when my friend's husband tried to explain that pumping would just bridge the gap until less intense pain killers could be used, the doctor told him to be quiet. Grrr.
Please keep praying...the clots are still there...
Thanks.

Nancy, praying for your friend.
My aunt has had this problem for years, and it can be dicey. The GOOD news is that my little auntie is now 86!
We'll keep your friend and her family in our prayers.

Grrr is right. Your friend shouldn't have to deal with wrist-slapping right now. Your friend needs good information, encouragment, and support to deal with her physical problem and to incorporate this with her vocation as a breastfeeding mother. I will offer up our family rosary for Michelle.
Here are some links that may help:
maternal medications and breastfeeding
breastfeeding plans in jeopardy by mother's illness
God bless,

Continuing to pray! It's a good thing I wasn't in the room with that doctor!

Update:
Michelle is home, still in pain but "thankful to be alive" (her words) and glad to be able to nurse baby Maggie in peace. She is having to make some huge lifestyle adjustments due to the blood thinner she is on, but at least she is home and can rest. (You know how it is in hospitals!)
Thanks for your prayers; please keep praying for Michelle and her family. You are great!
