A deadly tornado hitGreensburg, Kansas last night. Most of the buildings in this small Kansas town are destroyed. Radio and cell phone service, as well as power were knocked out, making the rescue effort very challenging. Please pray today for the victims, people who may still be trapped in the rubble, and for the rescue workers trying to help them.

Also, please pray that we will not have more severe weather today. We are under a tornado watch all day long.

Dawn, I just saw this report on the Australian Internet news service. I can't imagine the fear you have in watching for such unpredictable and damaging forces of nature.

I will pray for the poor people in Greensburg.

Praying here for your safety! Do you have blessed salt, and the Pieta prayer book. There is a wonderful prayer against storms in the book, and blessed salt around your property is a powerful sacramental!

We are fine...we live about 100 mi. east of Greensburg. My dh may be called out there to help dispatch the rescue effort, though. He works for our local 911 center and Greensburg is needing help from surrounding counties as much of their rescue equipment was destroyed in the tornado.

And Molly, I prayed the prayer for the blessing against storms from the Pieta prayer book this afternoon with my kids! It really helped put my oldest dd at ease. I'll have to check into the blessed salt, I hadn't heard of that before...could I use holy water instead?

Thank you for your prayers everyone...no severe weather in Wichita today...just LOTS of WIND!

Yes you can use Holy water, but IMHO, no Catholic falimy can afford to be without blessed salt.
