Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wonder if I could ask a small prayer for the parish I have just been asked to leave. I cannot explain exactly what happened (because I am very out of the loop myself at this time) but what I do know: the priest asked me to leave the atrium, I was unsure what he meant and he explained that I was 'fired' with no further explanation. He gave me a blessing, and I asked when would be a good time to come and gather up my personal things in use in the atrium. He said, "Get them out now" and he re-opened the door and waited for a full 45 minutes while I went through every single work (this atrium was 99% complete with a combination of my things and parish things) and loaded everything into my van, with barely enough room to spare for my son and a family friend.

I am told, by the friend who was with me at the time, that I handled the situation with grace, but I really feel that I should have done something different (but what?). I just don't understand what prompted the harshness in his voice and the suddennes of his actions.

I am not clear about the future of the atrium - my (untrained, but very dedicated) assistant should be able to continue, but she will need some assistance replacing materials (I am moving soon anyway and need to take things with me for my home atrium). I will do everything I can to assist in any way, but I was also told that I am not welcome in the atrium at all, ever, anymore.

I am also concerned about the parish - everyone complains about the religious ed program, particularly the program that was previously in place in the room where the atrium now resides. Yet change is definitely difficult - and as more people have come to see the benefits of the atrium, the more the priest has been unsettled about the whole state of affairs, to the point of him asking me to stop teaching the children to genuflect in front of the tabernacle (I assumed he meant the miniature tabernacle in the atrium, so I took them into the sanctuary - hmmm, perhaps he meant the real one?).

Please, if you could, just pray that the priest's soul will again be open to joy of God and that the one doctrinally sound room in the parish will continue.

Thank you all and God Bless!

I will pray, how sad for you! I hope you can get to the bottom of it all, you need to know, for your own peace of mind, what are the reasons behind this decision.

How sad and downright confusing! Praying for the parish, the priest, and for you.

Peace,

Oh dear, how terrible, praying that you get to the bottomeof it and praying for the priest that he may be less harsh with you if you are able to speak with him.

Joining in with my prayers. May our sweet Jesus take your sufferings and place them in His wounds. Many prayers for protection against any anger or resentment as well as a shower of prayers for this priest and all priests who are being attacked so ruthlessly.

In His Mercy,
Karen S.

Thank you all.... I am not interested in knowing the details, as it may just muddy up the whole situation further, prompting what might look like arguments rather than explanations; he has already refused two meetings with me (on slightly different matters) and I will request no more. What's done is done, and I have been and continue to be offering up every struggle for the priest involved as well as those impacted by his decision.

Again, thank you....

I have been fired before (unjustly and without seeming reason), and it's so upsetting. I pray you can find the peace and forgiveness and go forward. And I'll pray for the priest and the parish.
