Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for my 10 year old daughter, she has been struggling with her asthma. Her health is slowly improving but her spirits are down.
She has lost some friends over the past few months because we have been home bound and today we had a mother tell us that asthma is not real and that I have put this in her head.
My daughter has been on steroids (prednisone) since December and her weight is up, she has a moon face and has very red cheeks - all due to the medication. This has made her feel self conscious.

My daughter has such a sweet spirit, she is strong in her faith and is very prayerful. She read that Saint Bernadette had asthma and has been praying to her and reading books about her and hanging pictures of her around her bedroom. (I have not been able to confirm if she had asthma)

Thank you for your support and prayers.

Praying for all of you.
Hopefully the change in season will do her good.

Oh, I'm so sorry for what you are going through.

You're in our prayers.

Yes, she had asthma, and her feast day was yesterday.   Catholic Online (I've also seen places list her feast as Feb. 11th with Our Lady of Lourdes or Feb. 18th).

Your daughter is in our prayers.

Oh, that is tough. My dh has severe asthma, and I know it is real! Yet I have also encountered people who don't believe it is real- one soccer coach was especially hard on boy who sometimes missed practice dt attacks. I don't know why people doubt it.

I will definitely pray for your daughter.

Stacy Lynn,
I am praying for your daughter! I am also so sorry she has lost friends and for the uninformed comments made.

My 16 yods has asthma. He has had respiratory problems since he was a baby. Not only is it too real, it can be so scary. No doctor would prescribe medication for an illness in someone's head.

My son is fortunate that his asthma is "almost" always controlled by use of an inhaler. He is able to run track, play basketball and football. His coaches understand if he ever has to take a break.

His triggers are colds, exercise and humidity (although swimming is supposed to be a good sport for those with asthma!)

Praying for your dd, also, to find some good and true friends.

God Bless,
Stacy in MI

I'm so sorry! I will pray. I have asthma and it was especially bad when I was in my early teens. I know that it was so hard not to get discouraged and depressed when attack after attack came and nothing we tried made it better.
I am praying for your daughter and her cross.

I'm sorry that she has lost friends and sometimes adults can be so insensitive and lack tact (when they are so misinformed).

Your daughter is in my prayers.

Praying here. My DD also has asthma. She's on Singulair and Flovent on a daily basis. Even though she's only 6yo, she's been hospitalised 6 times already (5 days each) for asthma. Each time it gets worst.. She can get a partially collapsed lung quite easily now :-(

So I'm familiar with asthma. DD is currently enjoying a healthy period, I'll pray that yours gets one too.
