Please pray fervently for this baby not be aborted and for the baby's parents. The parents are traveling this week for an Abortion. The father teaches at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN where my mom teaches and received this email last Friday.

Dear Colleagues,

About two weeks ago, when Jen's 20 week ultrasound was performed, doctors discovered a brain anomaly in our baby. Further tests conducted since then have resulted in worse news, and the diagnosis is a severe brain disorder. After agonizing over this impossible ecision, we have decided to terminate the pregnancy. To make matters worse, the doctors underestimated how far along Jen was, so we will need to travel out of state next week to have the procedure performed. Gary has been kind enough to cover my classes and labs while I am gone.

I know that many of you will not agree with our ecision. Please know that it was not made without some deep soul searching. I hope that, in some way, you will be able to support us during this difficult time and the healing that lies ahead.

Yes, it is a Catholic University. I just talked to my mom on the phone....she's calling the priest at the chapel right now to see if he can set up something akin to a prayer vigil for them.

I was astonished that this would actually be "announced" on an email to a whole department, but then I thought maybe it's supposed to be so that we can all be praying for them.

How very sad. Every baby deserves to live, brain anomaly or not I will pray for this baby and for the parents that they will see what God's plan really is for their precious baby.

Is this a fatal anomaly? Would reading about the Maxwells help? Their story is such a powerful witness - how following Jesus takes us places we don't necessarily weant to go - but He is faithful. How this young couple treasured their brief time with their little one. maxwell's baby
