Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My friend just called me to ask for prayers, specifically at 11:15 AM (Central Time). Her ds got a phone call on his way to college this morning that he is to meet with the diocesan board regarding being admitted into the seminary.

He has wanted this his whole life and had to complete a year of college before they would consider him. He has gone through all the other steps in a rather lengthy process. This is the "formal" interview that decides his fate.

Prayers would be appreciated.

I haven't heard yet and I'm not sure when he'll find out the outcome.

I'm fixing to call his mother.

Thanks for the prayers.

Well...

There seems to have been a hostile liberal nun on the religious end of the board. I won't reveal details but I can say that she was anti-homeschool and almost anti-everything else. I told my friend that perhaps she was playing the devil's advocate. You think?

And he found out he still needs to meet one-on-one with other religious that were not there. And there's still the lay board to meet with.

He said he went into a dark room and they were all sitting around a conference table with him placed at the head of the table. Very West Wing-like.

We talked a long time. My friend and I see more and more where it is not due to a lack of God's calling that we have a shortage of vocations.

If I could get her to come here out of her comfort zone, she could share so much more.

Please continue to pray. Our pastor told him that if he can hold out against all the liberal cxxx (and keep his faith), he'll do fine.

I just got a phone call from Matthew.

He's in!!!        He was SO excited!!!

He got a call yesterday to go to the vocation director's office this morning. Next is a formality meeting with the new Bishop (who was installed this past Monday).

Please prya for my bestest friend who now has before her one son moving to California in the next couple months and another son moving across state. Her life is fixing to become very different from what it's been.

And please keep Matthew in your prayers. Thank you all!

Great news, Cay, I will pray for him and his mother. Your new bishop baptized my oldest son in Sept. 1988 at the Cathedral in Lafayette and he also had dinner with us a couple times in our home around that time. He's a wonderful, holy man - very educated, refined and witty. I hope he makes a wonderful bishop.
