Please pray for Thomas (8) and Maggie (7) who will be making their First Reconciliation today. Our dear pastor, Fr. Felix, will be interviewing them after 8:15 Mass this morning and then (if God is willing) Thomas and Maggie will receive their First Reconciliation at 4 p.m. Please pray that the Holy Spirit fills them with hope and faith and they answer Father's questions and make their first confession. Maggie especially could use all the prayers you can as she is my SHY one and will forget everything in hiding from Father.....altho she loves Father and he's been here for dinner, so maybe she'll be able to actually look at the poor man.
Thanks for your prayers and support -- I don't think I could have attempted to catechize them for FR/FHC this year without my loving friends here!

Praying for your dear children, Mary! What a joyful day for them and for you. I have a very shy one, so I know just what you mean about forgetting all in an effort to hide!

Thanks for the prayers folks -- they made it through Father's questioning -- Rick said they did great, I had to take JP out to avoid further distractions! I was in there in the beginning and boy, both of them were SOOOO quiet and just nodded t their heads and didn't say much but their eyes were SOOOO big! But I guess Father had them calm and answering.
We still have the actual confessions to go through, but they've had a great, calm day and should do great -- they really love Father, so that helps. Also, Father is going to hear their confessions at the priest house so they don't have to go into the "closet"!

Marybeth, I will be happy to pray for Sean and Erin on the 31st -- it can be pretty terrifying.

Hope it all went wonderfully. Blessings to Thomas and Maggie!
We had a first reconciliation here a few months ago, too. I just love the huge smiles when they come out!

Thank you so much for all your prayers -- we are SO blessed to have an awesome "administrator" here for our parish -- he walked the kids through the whole Confession process and showed them not only is it NOT scary but it is a great gift. His upbeat and positive-ness (in conjunction with how dh and I taught them) really makes them thrilled that they can go to Confession whenever they feel the need!
I wish I'd had that teaching back when I was 7/8 yo. I was so scared of the "closet", I didn't start really going to confession willingly until I was in my 30s! What a waste of an awesome sacrament!
THANKS for the prayers -- I'll be calling on all you wonderful folks again when they make their FHC at the end of April
