They are in dire financial stress right now. It will get better in a month or two, but for now there just isn't enough money to pay the bills.

Gosh...this is so familiar. I remember when I was pregnant in with my first daughter, sleeping in the cold in the dead of winter for 2 nights when we couldn't pay our electricity bill.
