I just had to share! Today my four year old 'wrote' his first words using the moveable alphabet. Yesterday, he 'read' his first words during a Montessori game. The word was 'cup'. My CUP overfloweth!

I've written a bit more about it on my blog (pics too!) if anyone's interested.

Isn't that wonderful? Our 4ds did this just recently as well, and it is so cool to see that lightbulb over their heads when they figure it out! We've been using the object boxes and word cards for a little while.

The other day, though, he got the letter tiles out (our version of the moveable alphabet) and put random ones together, asking me what he was spelling. I explained to him that he should think of real words first and then try spelling them how they sound. Bingo! He understood!

Now, if only his older brother (5) would be similarly motivated...
