This is my first new topic since I introduced myself so please forgive me if I don't do this right.

I am looking for recipes that call for using very ripe bananas. I usually take them and stick them in the freezer until I get around to making a big batch of banana bread. My kids are getting tired of banana bread and so am I, or atleast the version I make. I have tried jazzing it up with nuts or chocolate chips, but it is still the same old banana bread.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Maybe a very unique banana bread recipe? Right now I have about 8 to use up. Thanks!

Hi Matilda!

I have always wanted to make hummingbird cupcakes. (I plan to make them when we study tropical islands. ) Frosted banana bars sound yummy, too.

How about smoothies or banana puddings?

Thank you Dawn!

I always forget that you can use frozen bananas in smoothies. Thanks for the reminder and those hummingbird cupcakes looks yummy. I would think that the banana pudding would require fresh bananas. Do you know for sure?

Hello-I'm a newbie too!

Have you tried putting them in pancakes? I use a whole grain pancake mix that just requires adding water, then add variations of things. My dc love banana, walnut(I grind the heck out of them!) and choc. chip pancakes.

Warmly,
Christy

I made the banana pancakes for dinner tonight with smoothies (banana and blueberry)! Thanks for the ideas. It always strikes me as silly that I don't think of these things, but my mom was not a very adventurous cook. We pretty much ate the some things over and over. She says it was because we were too picky, which might be true.
