A family in our parish lost their youngest child to cardiomyopathy just before her second birthday three and a half years ago. They now have a five month old baby who has Down's Syndrome and two holes in his heart. His health has been a cause for concern since he was born. I spoke to his mother on Sunday and discovered that three weeks ago he had two choking episodes and they nearly lost him - the second took place in hospital and they had to call the CRASH (cardiac resus) team. On the positive side, he had been due to have heart surgery today, but a scan last week showed that the holes had begun to close spontaneously and they have put the surgery on hold to see whether the improvement continues. His colour is noticeably better than it was a month ago.

Please pray that Jonathan's heart will continue to heal and surgery will not be necessary, and that he will not have any more life-threatening crises. This family have been through so much over the last few years.

Have hope, Jonathan's family. My DS sister had a few open-heart surgeries and many, many eye operations. She's 27 years old now, living with my parents, and working part-time as a greeter at WalMart.
