She woke up Saturday to the discovery that half of her vision in her left eye is gone. Apparently she has had some kind of blood vessel constriction in one of the vessels that supports the optic nerve, so part of her optic nerve is permanently damaged.
They are still testing her, in order to rule out something called giant cell arteritis. If she doesn't have that, things are better. (Treatment is one year of corticosteroids...loss of sleep, weight gain, etc. are some of the bad side effects.)
Mom's got a good attitude about it all, but she asked specifically for your prayers. She knows they are heard! She seems OK with her current health situation, but is hoping not to have further complications or increased risk of the same thing happening in her other eye.
Thanks in advance. Please know I will be remembering all of your intentions during Lent, whether I post on the prayer request board or not...and I usually try to choose someone's intention each day to offer my day's work, struggles and prayers for. (Heartfelt, if ungrammatical...  )

Oh, Nancy, your mother is in our prayers! We pray daily to St. Lucy for my two youngests' eyes, and will pray for her intercession on your mother's behalf as well.

Immeadiately the Scripture in Mark 10 of Jesus healing blind Bartimaeus came to mind. Even though others rebuked him for calling out to Jesus he was persistent and kept calling out for Jesus to have mercy on him. Jesus did and he was healed and Bartimaeus got up and followed Jesus in the way!
I am Praying for complete healing and sight to be restored to her in the name of Jesus!

Mom is very happy. Thank you for your prayers!!! They go back to the doctor Friday for more consultations, but we're all very relieved that the worst cause has now been ruled out.
