Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If you are looking for a simple sewing project, especially for Lent, perhaps consider making some of these little burial pouches for hospitals and funeral homes. Sometimes these little babies are born so small, they won't even fit into preemie clothes. These little pouches so bless these moms and dads. Plus they're very easy to make and you can make them as ornate or as simple as you wish!Burial pouches

Elena,

Such a wonderful idea! My daughter Catherine (14) runs a ministry for NICU babies here in Massachusetts. I can tell you that even the nurses are blessed by these and other items. It's so hard for them. They are the ones who comfort the parents and it helps them so much to be able to offer them something.

We have all of our items blessed by our parish priests and tie a little removable tag on each with a blessing and information about the ministry. It's really appreciated. What a wonderful Lenten project!

Nissa, would you mind sharing the blessing you include on the tag?

And, thank you Elena. I think my daughters will really like this. I may use it for a future Little Flower project.

Burial pouches can also be crocheted - here is a pattern. I haven't gotten to my sewing machine in years, but I can crochet while nursing! I just posted on my blog about crafting for charity diring Lent.
I would think it would also be nice to donate these pouches to ob offices to have on hand to share with mothers with impending losses. It would be such a blessing to be prepared to handle the loss in such a dignified way.
