Does anyone have good entry mats that absorb water? I used to use the rubber backed mats I purchased from one of the warehouses (BJ's or Costco). I can't compare because we had carpeted floors in previous homes. Now we have tile then and hardwood flooring.
I purchased these waterhog mats this past year and my dh is really disappointed in them. I keep telling him that once he builds the covered porch that the water won't make its way onto the flooring

If you find something.. I'd love to hear about it.. otherwise.. floor mats help with dirt.. and are a good place to stand while removing the wet shoes before walking onto the floors ;)

We just got rain boots for everyone for just that reason.. real easy to slip off when coming inside. Then a tub to put the boots into.

No personal experience with the mats listed here, but I recently saw this article doormat comparison and thought to start with the suggestions when it came time to buy new mats. Then I forgot about it, moved into a house with cream carpets, watched snow fall, freaked out and bought something at Target.

We have a tray beside the backdoor for shoes to go on.

You may want to start instituting something like what the Europeans do in a lot of places--shoes for inside, different shoes for outside. And they exchange places near the door, so you aren't trekking filth and such into the house, and you aren't wearing out your indoor shoes.
