Can PPD appear as far as 10 weeks post-partum? I was really weepy tonight, and my nerves have been on edge. I feel like a horrible mommy. Would you please pray for me?

Cindy,
My doctor told me it can happen anytime during the first year. Mine hit me when #4 was 7/8 months. Of course, we were also going through a change of jobs and a very stressful financial time. All the changes contributed greatly to the PPD and anxiety. I was a wreck.

I've heard even up to 2 yrs can be PPD.
Make sure you're getting good vitamins.. just like you took while pregnant, stay hydrated (dehydration can make you grumpy) and red raspberry leaf can help normalize hormones and keep you a bit more on an even keel.

Praying, Cindy. Be gentle with yourself....no way you are a bad mommy, just tired and out of sorts. I have had the same thing happen around 8-10 weeks!!

Oh Cindy you poor dear. I will keep you in prayer...especially on those days when I feel like a horrible mommy.

Cindy, yes, my doctor told me it can happen over a year after giving birth. It hit me at six months with my twins...and much earlier this time.
I will keep you in my prayers.

Thank you all for lifting me up in your prayers. I'm feeling much better today - it certainly didn't hurt that Elizabeth's daughter was here this morning!
On a funny note, the "big" boys were in the front of the house dancing around and laughing heartily. Mary Beth kept trying to shush them. I told her if she figures out how to turn the volume down to let me know

I'm praying for you...I started a list of all the women who suffer from depression and anxiety here and I'm trying to pray for everyone every day!
I've BTDT...I saw my counselor Wed. and was diagnosed w/ an anxiety disorder this time...after my last baby, it was PPD...
It WILL get better. When I was suffering from PPD, I had great consolation in the thought that the pain I experienced was probably similar to "the sword of sorrow" that pierced our Blessed Mother's heart. I'm sure her pain was MUCH greater, but it helped me to think of uniting my pain to hers.
