Just curious what everyone plans to do. I'm at a crossroads and need some refreshment time, but I'm not sure I can totally abandon my blog....I know it would be a tremendous sacrifice What's a blogloving girl to do...

I have thought about it. I think certainly I will turn off the computer for Holy Week.

I was just thinking about this today. How about fasting from the computer throughout Lent....? I honestly don't think I could manage it! Now that's addiction

Meredith,
Perhaps only blog meditative spiritual posts and reflective thoughts during Lent; nothing about school, family, fun, kiddies allowed.

I will cut WAY back on computer time, but since some of what I do on the computer is for my knitting designs, I can't cut it out completely. Also, I'd like to share what we do -- to record it for me -- during lent on the Blog so that we can look back later and say, oh yes -- we did that.
I don't think we can (or should) completely cut out celebrating during the season of Lent -- Maggie's bday, Rick's and my anniversary, mothering Sunday, Saint feast days -- so many things to celebrate but toned down, y'know?

I started my blog to communicate with family who are spread out all over the place. I plan to blog about what is happening in our lives and include our Lenten activities. My dh and I crack up about what our families think about the Catholic traditions we incorporate since the main relatives who read my blog our non-practicing.
I would really miss you Meredith if you took Lent off.
Of course, I could offer it up!

Cay, I was thinking of this as well (great minds think alike eh?) I will also keep my daily log learning notes for peace of mind accountability, but I really like this. Maybe just our Monday's With Mary, etc....

Sunday's are allowed for whatever you give up. Maybe you could just do it then.

I thought about it, but then decided not to give it up. Here is why:
In my mind, Lent is about becoming a better me, through sacrifice. My blog and this board, though enjoyable, make me a better me, becuase they add inspiration and accountability that I would not have otherwise. So giving it up would have the opposite of the intended effect of my Lenten fast.
It would be like giving up something nutritious for Lent, like salads. How does that make me a better person? Far better to give up things like caffeine, cookies, and that extra slice of cheese on my sandwich. Things that are a weakness or a vice.
So, rather than giving up blogging, which I see as a benefit,I will find another area of my life that really needs fixing. Perhaps giving up that extra half hour of sleep in order to go exercise.

I plan to center our learning around Lenten topics and to explore those meditative spiritual things with my kids in the context of our family. And some what I'm already planning I think might even be fun, so...that would mean no posting at all .
I do like to have a record of what we did and thought and prayed about, so I'm betting I'll blog.

I think you should leave your blogs going but focus on the spiritual side of your lives. Many MANY people read blogs and come to know God through the computer, ya know?
If you make it an "outreach" tool, I really think that would be sweet.

I've been thinking hard on this since Meredith first posted. I've honestly gone back and forth.
I think I will continue to blog through Lent, because as Mary said, it is a record of our family life. What we do during Lent could be perhaps some of the most important things we do all year - for our faith and in our family. I realized this just today as we were trying to remember last Lent. How much I forget! (How much the BOYS forget! ). I use my blog as a journal and keepsake and somehow when I write about something it solidifies it in my otherwise overtired mommy-brain.
All that said, I will plan to focus on our spiritual life during this time and I think during Holy Week I will post just simple photographs.
Just talking aloud, and I am glad to have read all your thoughts on it!

Well, I've been thinking about this...I haven't been blogging on a regular basis, but I'm going to keep on blogging. Much of my blogging is an exercise: writing, keeping a family journal, keeping track of our spiritual and learning journeys in the family. In other words, I do it for me, and even if no one is reading my blog in Lent, I want to keep track for myself what we are doing. I'm not good scrapbooking or photo albums, so this helps highlight some things in our life.

I'll definitely be blogging during Lent, our voyage to Key West will be next weekend and then we'll be exploring a brand new area, I'm very excited! There would be no way I would skip recording all that, just as Dawn and others have said, my blog is for memories too and I know I will want to remember these 40 days.

I will be blogging. I won't have you all to talk to, so it will give me a way to "talk shop" in the meantime.

I'm not going to stop blogging either and for MANY of the same reasons as the rest of us have already shared. It will be a bit of joy in the solemn and sorrowful weeks that pass that we will be making Lenten memories with our families, too good to not share around!
Blessings to all who responded!
